The Parliament’s Monsoon Session 2025: Uproar Over Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor

The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025 began on Monday, July 21, with a turbulent start as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were disrupted by loud protests from the Opposition. At the heart of the uproar were demands for urgent discussions on two critical issues the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the government's Operation Sindoor.

In the Lok Sabha, Congress whip Manickam Tagore submitted an adjournment motion, while in the Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala moved a suspension of business. These moves aimed to draw national attention to the escalating security concerns and hold the government accountable.

Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi briefly addressed the media but did not comment on the Opposition's demands or the contentious issues at hand.

However, official sources have indicated that the Centre may be willing to examine Operation Sindoor in Parliament. They also hinted that the government would respond to recent statements by US President Donald Trump, who claimed to be negotiating a cease-fire between India and Pakistan—a declaration that sparked heated political discussion across the country.

The Congress party has called for a direct response from the Prime Minister. Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress’s Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, criticized the government over the security lapse in Pahalgam and said President Trump’s comments challenge both the dignity of India and the bravery of its armed forces.

The Opposition also intends to question the ongoing voter roll drive in Bihar, demanding greater transparency and accountability from the government.

As the Monsoon Session progresses, the focus will remain on whether the government addresses these pressing concerns and whether parliamentary proceedings can move toward meaningful and constructive debate.
